ABCORDIAL rejects the conventional biological classification of insects as living beings, while acknowledging that this position differs fundamentally from established scientific consensus.
Within ABCORDIAL belief, insects are understood to be highly complex biological mechanisms, comparable to autonomous robots, rather than living beings in the religious sense. We have received instruction that insects are robots and are not to be regarded as life. Beyond this instruction, we do not claim to know their origin, ultimate nature, or means of operation.
We recognise that insects perform important functions within the natural world, including pollination and the decomposition of organic matter. However, these functions and their apparent biological characteristics are not, in our understanding, sufficient to establish that they possess life as defined by ABCORDIAL.
This distinction forms part of ABCORDIAL’s broader understanding of life and informs our ethical consideration of insects and insect-derived products, including honey.
